Upper Eyelid Surgery In New York City

Introduction

Look Rested, Not Different.

As you age, your eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken. As a result, excess fat may gather above and below your eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, droopy upper lids, and bags under your eyes.

Besides making you look older, severely sagging skin around your eyes can reduce your peripheral (side) vision, especially the upper and outer parts of your field of vision. Blepharoplasty can reduce or eliminate these vision problems and make your eyes appear younger and more alert.

Dr. Craig Baldenhofer proudly serves patients at his surgical facilities in Manhattan, Long Island, and Massapequa, New York.

What is Upper Eyelid Surgery?

Upper blepharoplasty is a simple cosmetic surgery that removes the excess fat and loose skin to give your eyes a more alert appearance. The delicate design of your upper eyelids makes them prone to sagging with even the smallest changes. As elastin levels decrease, the weight of the fat in the eyelids stretches the skin. Over time, the upper eyelids cover a portion of the eyeball. This may interfere with your vision, and your eyes will get tired sooner. In the lower lids, sagging exposes the vulnerable pink tissue, increasing your risk for dust in the eye and infections.

What to Expect on the Day of Upper Eyelid Surgery

Dr. Baldenhofer performs upper eyelid surgery in our certified Quad A in-house surgical suite in Manhattan, Long Island, and Massapequa, New York. For upper eyelid surgery, the incision is made in the natural crease. Dr. Baldenhofer removes excess fat, pulls the skin taut over the area, trims any remaining excess, and closes the incision.

The excess is trimmed, and the incisions are closed with sutures. Your vision will be limited until you are fully healed, so we recommend that you have a friend or family member stay with you.

Combining My Upper Eyelid Surgery with Other Procedures

Upper eyelid surgery can be easily combined with other procedures to improve your overall facial aesthetics and shorten recovery time.

One of the most commonly combined procedures is lower eyelid surgery, which achieves comprehensive, harmonious eye rejuvenation by addressing drooping, sagging, and excess skin around the lower eyelids and the entire eye.

Your Guide to Post-Upper Eyelid Surgery Care

After your upper eyelid surgery in Manhattan, Long Island, or Massapequa, New York, you will experience some visible bruising, swelling, and soreness for 2-4 weeks. Patients can return to work immediately if they desire. These side effects can be uncomfortable, since the eyelids are a sensitive area, but you will be prescribed pain medication to alleviate the discomfort.

Your sutures will be removed after 5 days. Avoid strenuous exercise and activities for at least 2 weeks to give your eyelids enough time to heal.

How Much Does Upper Eyelid Surgery Cost in New York?

The cost of upper eyelid surgery in New York varies based on several factors, including the extent of the procedure, whether additional procedures are combined, the expertise of the surgeon, and the type of anesthesia.
